Abortion Rally, Washington Square Park

Our environment, who and what we surround ourselves with, plays a huge role in who we become as people. I decided to photograph the environment at a pro-choice abortion protest, which happened to be met by counter-protesters. This protest was in the wake of the newly instated (2021) abortion laws in Texas that restrict women in a multitude of ways, most importantly allowing them to control what they do with their bodies. This was an interesting rally unlike any I have ever been to, since there were counter-protestors involved, who brought children. This is a series of photographs that highlights the different aspects of the protests – not the one-sided images often seen in the news.
